Apple is preparing to launch not one, but two new devices according to a new rumor, one of which could be coming as early as this summer. The sources claim that one device is a smaller, cheaper iPhone while the other is a “media pad” that could let users watch HD video, listen to music, and do other fun, touchscreeny things.

Nambu: Twitter, FriendFeed, Ping.fm, And More, Sweet!
April 1, 2009 · 2 Comments
I’ve been checking out Nambu for the past few days and I’m falling in love with it. There is an iPhone app and a desktop client for the Mac Leopard. It’s still in beta, but it does look very promising.
I use multiple social network clients with multiple accounts and this program can handle my needs. Nambu can also manage your ping.fm account that lets you update multiple social network accounts in one update.
My top list of features that make this program stand out:
- Integration with FriendFeed accounts, coming soon to desktop version.
- Being able to see your reply in context of the original tweet, very nice.
- In-line translation of the tweet makes it easy to see everyone’s messages
- Automatic saving of searches is a nice touch, desktop only
- Group capability is great. Being able to right click a user and assign them to group is very handy. You can even assign to more than one group. Desktop only.
- Multiple Twitter accounts. Desktop only.
- Details on a user are useful to see if you want to follow or not.

- Scrolling past a tweet marks it read, very convenient.
- Replies are highlighted in the normal flow of tweets, or selected with predefined categories in the desktop client or in the star section of the iPhone app.
- And last cool feature of the Mac client is that the domain name of shrunken URLs appear in the message so you have an idea of where you are going when you click on the link (i.e. http://is.gd/nxwn appears as www.instantshift.com). Very sweet!
Nambu looks interesting so far. I definitely like the Mac client better than the iPhone app, hopefully they add more features in the iPhone version and then sync between the programs (i.e. groups and searches).
Anyone else tried Nambu yet? If so, comment your brain out…

Jump To The Top Of Any Page
November 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Ever been scrolling down many pages on your iPhone while browsing an interesting page and then wanted to go to a different website. I usually just starting scrolling back up, swiping and swiping and swiping until I get back to the top of the broswer page. Well I found out that you can just tap right on the top bar, a good place is right over the time, in the middle. That will scroll you back to the top instantly. This also works in other apps, especially in the Contacts app, when you want to get back to the search bar at the top of the screen. Also handy in Twitterific to turbo boost to the top of your friend list to see the latest tweets.

A Way Of Seeing Where That Pesky Call Came From
November 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Just saw this feature when I was looking though my Recent call list on my iPhone. When you get a call from an unfamiliar area code and number, you can see where that call came from. In the Recents screen of the Phone app just tap the blue arrow button to the right of the number. You’ll be taken to the screen to the right, which not only shows the number, but the city and state that the call originated from, very cool. So this might jog your memory and you might answer the call next time.

MobileFiles, iDisk for your iPhone
November 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

One of my clients turned me on to this free app for getting access to your iDisk from your iPhone. I works great and you can view several file types.
- Access your iDisk files and folders
- View your files anytime, anywhere
- Navigate with a simple, easy to use interface
- Access the shared iDisk folders of friends, family
- Download and store files for offline use
- Easily organize local files with folder support
- Secure personal data – your information is never transmitted outside of MobileMe
MobileFiles will list any files stored on your iDisk folders without any restriction. However, only the following file types can be viewed or played on the device.
- Images: .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .gif and .svg
- Microsoft Word: .doc and .docx
- Microsoft Excel: .xls and .xlsx
- Microsoft PowerPoint: .ppt and .pptx
- Adobe Acrobat: .pdf
- Web Pages: .htm and .html
- Web Archive: .mht
- Text: .txt
- Audio: .mp3
MobileFiles requires the iPhone 2.1 software update.

The Secret .com Button in Mail on the iPhone
November 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment
There is a .com button in the Safari browser’s keyboard, but there isn’t one in the Mail app on the iPhone. Actually, there is a button, it’s just not very obivous. When you are typing out an email address in Mail in which your are going to type .com, .org, .edu, etc. just tap and hold on the period button and the choices will pop up. Then just slide your finger over to choose the domain ending you want. What’s even cooler is that you can use this feature whenever you are using a keyboard with a period, even third party apps.

Clarifi by Griffin Improves iPhone Camera Focus
November 6, 2008 · 1 Comment
One thing we find particularly useful when we are on the go is the camera on the iPhone camera. Many times we need to take pictures on the fly with little notice. Carrying a camera around in your pocket all the time is just inconvenient. Griffin has noticed the problem and came up with a solution.
